British Summer Time Dub

Summer 2009 and a new musical phenomenon is born, The Mugician released his debut album BST (British Summer Time) Dub. This soundtrack is already becoming the anthem to a laidback summer. As a new force in urban music The Mugician’s repertoire blends a fusion of modern electric reggae with atmospheric chill out elements of hip hop. The Mugician and his music provides a popular fresh perspective to reviving the sensation of listening to original ska, mento, rock steady and dub alongside soul and rare grooves; invoking the spirit of yesteryear’s pioneers.

The eight track musical project offers a ground breaking and visionary odyssey journey into a new dub backdrop. The Mugician has broken the mould with this journey into dub. Each track is memorable and steeped in heavy contemporary influences. The songs are immediately accessible offering standout renditions which navigate a landscape anchored in dub and electronic sounds. The arrangements also borrow elements from dub step, break beat and hip hop. In particular, “Warrior Dub” is reminiscent of Lee ‘Scratch Perry and other tracks have the recognisable influences of Burning Spear, King Tubby and Prince Far I seeping through. The project combines a classic roots dub sound with a more progressive twist on tracks such as "Forward" & "Inject some vibes".

The album was inspired by the onset of summer and traces the mood of a new generation of formidable talents and showcasing the original sounds of the Mugician aka Andrew Duray.
